Cheers rang out from the Castro Street sidewalk and along El Camino Real as the Mountain View community joined a day of nationwide protest against the Trump administration on Saturday.
Protestors of all ages participated, bearing signs attacking the administration with messages like “Cory Booker sent me” and “Silence is Compliance.”
The rally, which local organizers said was expected to attract over 1,000 people, was part of the “Hands Off” movement, a national mobilization against Trump’s and Elon Musk’s actions, according to their website.
Dave Classick, a local distillery owner and Mountain View native, held up an upside-down American flag, which he said was “a sign of distress” and signified the country’s troubled state.
“This is an opportunity for people to stand up and show the world that these are true American values,” Classick said. “It’s just disgraceful what’s happening.”
Perhaps most poignantly, he ended his interview with the Post with a simple, “F Trump.”
Here’s the event captured by our photographers.
