The Mountain View High football team rallied to beat Palo Alto 46–44 in each team’s first game of the season on Aug. 29, capped by a last-second game-winning field goal from Mountain View kicker Stephen Messner. After falling behind 12–0 early, the Spartans battled back behind Spartan running back Dominik Kristof, who scored three rushing touchdowns in his varsity debut. Paly briefly regained the lead with under a minute left, but a clutch drive led by Mountain View quarterback Ishan Devarapalli set up the decisive kick.

Paly will look to bounce back against Burlingame next Thursday. The Spartans play Woodside next Friday in their home opener.
