The Mountain View High School boys soccer team were crowned Central Coastal Section Division I champions with an upset 2-1 overtime win over top-seeded Everett Alvarez High School.
After defeating St. Ignatius College Preparatory and Leigh High School in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively, the Spartans advanced to match up against Everett Alvarez High, whom they lost to in the 2025 CCS semifinals in penalty kicks. Everett Alvarez High had gone 48 games unbeaten dating back to the start of the 2024-2025 season.
Both teams were evenly matched throughout, with senior Nicco Garzino scoring in the fifth minute off a corner kick, before Alvarez equalized five minutes later. The game remained tied into overtime until senior Cyrus Shafie drew a penalty kick in the 100th minute and slotted it past the Everett Alvarez High goalkeeper to give the Spartans a late advantage.
With this win, the Mountain View High boys soccer team won their second CCS title in the past four years and their third in school history.
Mountain View High will look to repeat as NorCal champions after winning the Division II title last year. Their opponent has yet to be announced.
