Appointed as the Palo Alto Unified School District’s Acting Superintendent in February, Trent Bahadursingh has now parted ways with PAUSD as of March 17.

In a message from Board President Shounak Dharap, Dharap explained the mutual agreement between Bahadursingh and the district to conclude his term. According to Dharap, Bahadursingh’s contract entitles him to twelve months of salary in an event of separation without cause, and both parties agreed to a mutual release of claims.

Dharap stated in the message that the Board will begin thoroughly searching for a new interim superintendent immediately, with plans for tonight’s meeting to include a review of proposals from superintendent search firms.

“Transitions are hard, and two in quick succession is harder,” Dharap said. “But PAUSD’s strength has never depended on any single person; it comes from the educators, staff, and families who show up for our students every day. The Board will continue to move with both urgency and care.”

This is a developing story.
